"God Almighty first planted a garden, and indeed it is the purest of human pleasures."   Sir Francis Bacon

Yesterday was a day full of bounty.  Recently, my mom in law moved from her home into a retirement community and we inherited quite a bit of furniture from her.  It isn't groaner furniture.  It is beautiful!  Her favorite color is orange.  Mine is red.  She gave us a butter soft leather couches.  At first I was a bit worried about the color.  But, they are a warm butterscotch and go wonderfully with our wood wall and accents.  We also inherited a magnificent dining room table.  It is over 100 years old.  My husbands grandparents owned a farm before the depression and they used to feed the farmhands at the table.  It has 12 leaves!!  We are a family of nine and table size is important to us so we can eat together.  However, this table will allow us to have a huge gathering and fit everyone at the table.  I'm in search of chairs, though, because we are short a few.  Maybe for Thanksgiving we could have a huge party and just tell people to BYOC...bring your own chair...so that everyone has a place to sit at the table.  I was thinking of getting some benches made so the kids could just line up next to each other...old school style.

There was also a pinball machine (that we are going to have to get fixed), a gorgeous Tiffany style chandelier, beds, dresser, end tables, glassware, china and a bunch of family mementos that I have yet to go through.  We are feeling extra blessed.  We feel blessed every day, but sometimes, God adds some extra blessings.  The kids have been great about helping me figure out where to place everything and have been jazzed about how generous their grandmother is.

Today my son turns 8!  In four days my daughter turns 8!!  We are going to be party central here!  Break out the cake and presents and let the good times roll.

Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy these final weeks of summer!
